Information about the testes :

1. Testes are male sex organ for production of sperms and male sex hormone.

2. The diagram shows the section of a seminiferous tubule, which makes up the whole testis.

3. In the central part, we see a lumen. Nearest to the lumen, we can see some sperms. (The straight line is the tail of the sperm.)

4. The wall of the tubule is made up of cells in different stages of sperm production. Nearer to the lumen are spermatids, some near to the outer boundary are primary spermatocytes; at the outermost layer, there are spermatogonia.

5. The Sertoli cells are found here and there. The head of sperm cells are attached to them. They seem to give support to the sperm and produce hormone.

6. The interstitial cells (cells outside the seminiferous tubule) secrete male sex hormone, testosterone.
