Information about the sperm cell :

1. Human sperm is tadpole-shaped cell.

2. It is a gamete which is haploid, i.e. it has only 23 chromosomes.

3.The head contains a haploid nucleus.

4. The neck region contains a lot of mitochondria to provide energy for beating of tail.

5. The tail is a flagellum. It can beat to help the sperm to swim.

6. The speed of sperm can be 120 metres per hour. That is to say, it can swim about 5mm in one minute.

7. The tip part of the head is a region called acrosome where hydrolytic enzyme can be found. That structure can change shape and help the sperm to enter the egg.
